Cast On Yarn Studio harbors all things yarn!
Brenda Miklos opened Cast On in 2017 and has dedicated herself to finding distinctive luxury to budget friendly yarns sourced locally, nationally and internationally. This is no ordinary yarn store, recently Brenda has also started to carry the very popular and collectible Polish Pottery, so even if you don’t knit or crochet there will be something for you to enjoy.
Let me start by telling you about Vermilion OH.
In the 1600’s it was inhabited by the Erie people and was named Vermilion after the red clay that was found in the area. Later it was known as “The City of Sea Captains” and even later became a popular drop off point for liquor coming over from Canada during prohibition. I’ll coin that as the first booze cruise.
When visiting Vermilion, you’ll find a very walkable downtown area including restaurants, shops, a beautiful beach with facilities, a lighthouse at the beach, benches and Adirondack chairs to relax. I like stopping at the coffee house, getting a latte and sitting by the river or beach before going to work at Cast On, hours of which are Tuesday 1-6, Wednesday and Thursday 10-4, Friday and Saturday 10-2.
Now about Cast On.
Cast On Yarn Studio is in the Miklos Center for Health and Wellness just east of downtown at 4550 Liberty Ave. Being in a Health and Wellness building is perfect for Cast On because every time I enter the studio I feel as though I’m in a sanctuary - a yarn sanctuary! The store offers something for everybody. Whether you knit, crochet, spin or have a certain price point, it’s here. Plus, one of the things that I’ve always liked about Brenda is that she carries beautiful accessories and tools. To me knitting is sensory, and I love using beautiful stitch markers, cable needles and project bags. It’s like knitting with jewelry and special treats.
Yarns at Cast On are well organized by weight from lace to super bulky. You will find an array of fibers with quantities for sweaters, socks, blankets, and babywear and of course hand dyed as well, so you can create a truly unique piece.

Polish Pottery, new to Cast On, is a perfect compliment. Yarn bowls, dinnerware, mugs, bakeware and more are all handmade and hand painted in Poland. Polish Pottery is very durable, being microwave, dishwasher and oven safe! Polish Pottery is the perfect compliment to any kitchen and makes a great gift as well.

On Tuesday nights from 4-6pm Ann hosts knit night. It’s a social time where the fiber community can get together and meet new friends while creating treasures. You should join us.
Now Brenda Miklos

She is cherished by the community that stops into her shop, truly. She listens to her customers’ needs, is always helpful and kind and cares about everyone. The first time I stopped in was because I was drawn to yarns she had on display, but I didn’t think I could knit the project. I’m a classically trained weaver, dyer, spinner - a typical fiber/textile artist but never got the hang of knitting by hand. I held these beautiful yarns and said, “I don’t think I can do this”. Brenda simply looked me straight in the eyes and said, “Sure you can!” That was that. Her words gave me confidence. I knit the poncho, and I still wear it!
Please stop by, find a new project for yourself or a special person and enjoy charming Vermilion.
